The short version
This site runs no analytics, sets no cookies of its own, serves no advertising, embeds no third-party trackers, and has no accounts, no logins and no mailing list. There is one form, it transmits nothing to this site, and there is no database behind any page. Almost everything below is a description of things this site does not do.
Analytics and measurement
No analytics package is installed. There is no Google Analytics tag, no Google Tag Manager container, no first-party or third-party measurement script, and no pixel from any advertising or social platform. No page on this site loads JavaScript from a third-party domain. The single script the site does load is served from this site's own domain and does three things: it opens and closes the mobile navigation menu, it reveals a back-to-top control once you have scrolled, and it filters the directory listing in your browser. None of that is reported anywhere.
The practical consequence is that this site does not know how many people read it, which pages they read, or where they came from, beyond what a web server unavoidably records in order to answer a request at all.
Server logs
Like every web server, the hosting infrastructure that serves these pages records a line for each request: the requested path, a timestamp, the HTTP status returned, the number of bytes sent, the user-agent string the client supplied, and the network address the request arrived from. These records exist so that the operator of a server can diagnose faults, identify abusive traffic, and keep the service available. They are generated by the web server itself, not by anything embedded in these pages, and they are retained by the hosting provider under its own operational policy.
Nothing in those logs is combined with any other data source, used to build a profile, sold, shared for advertising, or used to identify an individual reader.
Cookies and local storage
This site sets no cookies. There is no consent banner because there is nothing to consent to. The site does not write to local storage or session storage, and it does not use any browser fingerprinting technique. If your browser reports a cookie while you are reading this site, it did not come from these pages — a network intermediary, a browser extension or a corporate proxy is the usual explanation.
The contact form
The form on the contact page has no action attribute and no method attribute, which means the browser has nowhere to submit it to. When you press the button, a script running in your own browser reads the fields, assembles them into a message body, and hands that to your operating system's registered mail application through a standard mail link. The message is composed on your device and sent from your own mail account.
The effect is that this site never receives the contents of the form. There is no endpoint, no form-handling service, no queue and no stored submission. What happens to the message after you send it is governed by your mail provider's privacy policy and by the recipient mailbox, not by this site. Email you choose to send is retained in the recipient mailbox for as long as it is useful to keep it, and it is used only to answer you.
Fonts, images and other assets
All four typefaces used on this site are self-hosted and served from this domain. There is no request to Google Fonts, Adobe Fonts, or any other font service, so no third party sees your address as a side effect of a page rendering. All artwork is generated as inline vector graphics at build time; there are no external image hosts, no content delivery network in front of the assets, and no embedded video, map or social widget on any page.
Links to other sites
Pages here cite external sources — platform documentation, engineering blogs, published research — and link to a small number of related sites. Following one of those links takes you to a service governed by its own privacy policy, which this site does not control and is not responsible for. No outbound link on this site carries a tracking parameter, an affiliate identifier or a referral code.
Children
This is a technical reference for search practitioners. It is not directed at children, collects nothing from anyone, and therefore knowingly collects nothing from children.
Your rights
Data protection law gives people rights of access, correction, deletion and objection over personal data held about them. Because this site holds no personal data about its readers, there is in practice nothing to access, correct or delete. If you have sent email to the address published on the contact page and would like that correspondence deleted, say so in a reply and it will be deleted.
Changes to this policy
If this site ever adopts analytics, advertising or any form of reader measurement, this page will be updated to describe it before that happens rather than afterwards, and the modification date shown at the top of the page will move. Continued use of the site after a change constitutes acceptance of the policy as it then stands.
